Hi all,

I often have meaningful heartfelt conversations with friends on Twitter.

Sometimes they share advice, other times it's me. I want to bring these meaningful conversations to more people, so you can benefit too. Let me know how you like this new format.

🎬 The Slow-Carb Diet vs. ketogenic diet: what's best for you? | Tim Ferriss

Original Post

"Is there anyone that is on the keto diet that would be willing to give me a few pointers how to get started? And possibly whether it's actually good for me or not. Thank you in advance. #keto #ketodiet" - WN (OP)

Thread 1

"It might be better to talk to a medical professional or healthcare provider about the health aspects of the Keto diet as opposed to people actively doing Keto as they would be very biased. My understanding is that it is bad for your heart and is intended for specific individuals" - TW

"That's the first time I've heard it's bad for the heart. Thank you" - WN

Thread 2

"There are levels to it. To be true keto you’d have to eat a ton of fat, no carbs, no condiments, few vegetables & limited meat (it can turn into sugar). Most of your calories should come from fat so your body gets into ketosis - lives off of this fat." -BNS

"Thanks I guess I'll look into the different levels." -WN

Thread 3

"A few notes about keto as well. You’ll need to drink more water and take in more salt than you normally would. Carbs help your body store water & electrolytes. Look into the keto fly & how to avoid it.

When In ketosis most people have very bad breath. Some develop rashes" - BNS

"Wow sounds intense." - WN

"Yeah, true ketosis is not for the faint of heart. I couldn’t stick to it. I’m just going the low net carb route" - BNS

Thread 4

"Personally, I’d recommend moderate exercise; walking 1/2 a mile per day & the slow carb diet @tferriss. You won’t drop weight as quickly, but it’ll be much easier to live with. Fewer headaches, literally & figuratively." - BNS

How to Lose 100 Pounds on The Slow-Carb Diet – Real Pics and Stories

"Thanks. Maybe I'll try that." - WN

"Yeah so I looked into the slow carb diet and that looks like something that is more along the lines that I'm looking for. Very easy to follow and high success rate. Plus cheat day. Thanks for the tip." - WN

Resource

"@tferriss has some solid YouTube content on supplements to take while getting into ketosis. And typically, advocates intermittent fasting / keto. As opposed to long term keto."
