HashNode

Had a great chat with Sandeep Panda via DMs today about feature improvements & possible revenue options for HashNode. Excited to see the community grow! Love how interactive and responsive the HN team is.

Meditation

Also, shout out to @Arnaud Assad on HN for commenting on yesterday's journal entry & providing details on how he meditates every morning.

"There use many forms of meditation, choose the one that suits you best.

Here are some:

Breath deeply without pushing your limits, just focus on the air flowing in and out, when thoughts arrive acknowledge them and get back to your breathing feelings.

Observe your thoughts. Observe every thought poping out in you mind ("My back is hurting", "I must remember to buy xxxx", "Damn my thoughts are out of control"...) let them just appear and observe them without judgement.

Empty your mind, kill every thought appearing with a smiling "yes" and get back to an empty mind.

10 minutes everyday (consistency is key) will be fine.

And remember, that there's no "failure" of any kind, just do it. After few weeks you should notice some changes."

Videos

Recorded a quick Vlog yesterday. I'm excited to see my channel slowly growing. With constant content I know I will reach my 2019 goal of 1000 subscribers; just have to stay consistent & be persistent.

I don't feel I have found product market fit with any of my videos yet. In other words, a format that gets many views. But, for the level of effort - minimal - that I want to put into growing the channel,

I'm comfortable with making this a lifetime project. It's only a matter of time. It typically takes most established YouTubers 3 years to reach a growth inflection point.

Recording another segment for a weekly YouTube video today.

Health

Sore & tired today. Not sure how long it's been since I've enjoyed the minor pain that comes with working out.

In all honesty, it's been a few years since I've worked out consistently and to a level that strained me.

I noticed with just a week of lifting weights my sleep quality has improved dramatically.

It might also have to do with the bi-phase sleep pattern I've picked up in the past couple of days.

I find that if I try to sleep for around 8 hours my sleep quality becomes poor & I estimate my REM sleep is minimal.

However, sleeping for 6 hours & then taking a 2 hour nap in the afternoon leaves be feeling like I've gotten deeper sleep.

I have noticed my mental acuity has decreased somewhat. However, I hypothesize it takes some time for the body to adjust. So, we'll see; may go back to 8 hour blocks.

Fun fact: humans were bi-phase sleepers, prior to electricity. Perhaps this is a healthy return to the past.

Thanks for reading my daily ramblings!

Cheers, Ben
